How to Land a BIG Hotel Client (Tips From Owner)

Vic Patel is the owner of a local Comfort Suites hotel. Comfort Suites is a franchise that, basically, does the marketing for you. The majority of clients find the hotel thanks to the world-recognized name. But it does not mean that the owners of such hotels don't need to create their unique content.

Below, you will find a few tips that will help you figure out what big hotel clients are looking for when it comes to content creation. If you’re a GOLD member, you’ll also get to discover more about the marketing budget, negotiating contracts, 360 and drone content, and a lot more.

How to Land a BIG Hotel Client (Tips From Owner)

  • Build your brand around the convenience that you provide

Ideally, you should be able to offer the client something that is going to bring him money without him having to deal with a lot.

If you manage to do that, you will become a lot more valuable than any other content creator who focuses on image quality.

Offer a solution that is going to bring the biggest ROI as conveniently as possible.

  • Approach franchisees

Not all hotels are owned by giant corporations. There are plenty of independently owned hotels that you might feel less intimidated by

Approaching such businesses is a lot easier, and the majority of hotel owners would be happy to work with you if you manage to pitch yourself to them.

Bonus: franchises make marketing convenient. You don’t have to invent the whole image from scratch; you already have all the necessary tools to work with.

  • Make great pictures

In the hotel industry, reviews and pictures are the two things that can’t be overestimated.

Vic focused a lot on gorgeous imagery when they were building their own website. They even did 360-videos and drone shots.

The hotel industry caters to people who understand the value of good-quality content and who are not against non-traditional content.

Do remember that practically all the content you are going to create will be used not only on the actual hotel’s page but also on various booking sites.

Fact: you may get hired to take pictures and videos not just for content purposes. The owner might need to get videos of the property, if he is planning on selling it, for example. In such a case, you would have to focus not only on the actual building but also on the parking spots and the surroundings.

  • Understand the importance of regular content

When it comes to social media presence, Vic explains that it’s extremely important for hotel businesses to publish something new at least a few times per week. So that the potential clients know that ‘you’re still there’.

To make things a bit more exciting, they like to put out giveaways and holiday specials.

If you’re dealing with a franchisee, the chances are high that some content gets provided to them. However, owners can still come up with their own content to make their property stand out.

As a former US Army Combat Photographer, I have always had a passion for capturing powerful and meaningful images. After transitioning to corporate America as a Creative Director for a major fine dining food chain, I realized the value of my skills and decided to become a business owner. However, I quickly learned that many of the "gurus" out there were more interested in selling gear than providing real, actionable advice. So, I invested in mentors, consultants, business books, and even trial and error to find my own path to success. The result was FlashFilm Media, a Texas-based media production company that has worked with major brands like Toyota, Google, Verizon, Samsung, and more.

Now, I want to share my experiences and hard-won knowledge with others through FlashFilm Academy. My goal is to provide a modern, no-nonsense roadmap to success in the content creation world.
