DaVinci Resolve 21.1 Connects With Claude and ChatGPT Codex to Put AI Assistants to Work in the Edit

September 8, 2026 — Blackmagic Design has announced DaVinci Resolve 21.1, introducing AI assistant integration that lets editors delegate parts of their workflow through everyday language. The company specifically names Claude, Claude Code and ChatGPT Codex among the supported assistants.
According to Blackmagic, those connections allow users to analyze projects, organize media, adjust settings and batch render. Editors can also ask an assistant to create highlights from longer videos, remove unwanted clips and render deliverables.
For filmmakers and content creators, the potential benefit is practical: less time managing the repetitive work surrounding an edit. Turning a lengthy production into shorter deliverables could become a workflow an editor directs through conversation, then reviews and refines.
The announcement leaves some implementation questions unanswered. It does not explain the connection process, specify required AI subscriptions or detail which integration features require Resolve Studio. Its explicit reference to ChatGPT Codex also deserves attention: users should check setup documentation before assuming the feature works directly through any standard ChatGPT conversation.
The update also adds multicam improvements and more than 25 Krokodove tools for Fusion. Blackmagic says DaVinci Resolve 21.1 is available now as a free download.
